it’s Lions carnival time!

It’s been a long while since we’ve been able to look forward to the annual Lions Carnival. But after a two year hiatus, the carnival is back and people who consider Carlinville their hometown will descend on the community from near and far to celebrate one of our favorite weekends of the year.

The cake wheel will be spinning, you’ll hear the siren from the fire truck and smell the smoke from the purple train. You’ll likely buy a piping hot fish sandwich that will burn your mouth and you’ll love every second of it. After all, there are sno cones in every flavor available to cool you down.

And of course, there are our Lions queen candidates from Carlinville High School who have been tirelessly working to sell tickets to the community and beyond. The monies raised from their efforts stay local and help the Lions Club serve the community as they’ve done for many years.

I was pleased to once again be asked to photograph the headshots for our Lions queens contestants. If you see any of these lovely ladies strolling along the East Main/square corridor this weekend, donate a dollar or two (or twenty or thirty) as they pass you!

enjoy the carnival everyone, the weather looks like it’s going to be perfect.
