cap and gown: mikayla r

Another day, another cap and gown session. I love the end of the school year because cap and gown sessions are some of my favorites.

There’s such an excitement in the air as they try on their caps and gowns, and we inevitably struggle to remember what side the tassel should go on for photos.

Every single time.

You’d think I’d remember it by now.

I love CHS senior, Mikayla’s decision to dress casually and include the t-shirt from her chosen university, UIS. I’m all about the mix of her present and her future together and how it’s all leading to something fun.

We fought the wind, but Mikayla was a trouper and we knocked out her session in record time. I love the setting of our Macoupin County courthouse for cap and gown sessions. The brightly colored cap and gowns really pop against the neutral backdrop of the building.

After finding hiding places to protect us from the wind, we came out on the courthouse lawn for a cap toss and prayed that the cap wouldn’t be taken away like the feather in Forrest Gump. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.
