PHOTOGRAPHING THE CARLINVILLE QUEEN PAGEANT
For the third year in a row, we were asked to photograph the Carlinville Queen Pageant. While I know next to nothing about pageants and pageant life, every year I’m amazed at the work that goes into putting on this event.
The pageant organizers and volunteers, the contestants, and the contestant’s families, everyone pitches in and helps make this pageant a success year after year. It’s always a thrill to hear about the lives of the contestants, their hobbies, and see how they express themselves through the wardrobe choices they make throughout the evening.
Once the winning contestants have been chosen, that is when the real work begins. Our royalty travels from town to town representing our community as well as participating in many events locally. I love visiting with the parents of the our queens and hearing about all that they do. And they all seem to enjoy every second of it!
After a lovely evening enjoying the show, we head to the studio for the official headshots of our newly crowned royalty. This year was late night fun filled with one sleepy Little Miss and two other queens who were exhausted but excited.
