You know this face. Everyone knows him. And if you know him, you'll know that the pose in the above image wasn't directed by this photographer...but I made sure to catch it because it was fantastic.
Prior to Gabe's session, I was considering what I wanted to do. A photographer feels zero pressure when working with this family since everyone is so laid back, but I still wanted to make sure we accurately reflected Gabe's personality. He is smart, hilarious, and super fun to be around, but is also really passionate about his work with Macoupin County CEO. So, I got a mix of posed portraits and candids when Gabe was just being Gabe and I think it provided a perfect balance and told his story well.
Lawn Yahtzee is just one of the games created by Long Shot Yard Games, Gabe's Macoupin County CEO business. I know he also sold Giant Jenga but had sold out thanks to the trade show that had taken place the day before our session. I'm going to need to find out if he's still making these because that Yahtzee game will be fantastic for our family...
Since I've known his family for years, and he also happens to be friends with my daughter, I knew that Gabe was in track. When it came time to do his track photos, I, being the track aficionado that I am, said, "You throw things, right???" He was kind enough to not laugh at me nor roll his eyes...at least, not outwardly.
But let the record show, I wasn't wrong.
I love catching seniors, or basically any client, when they're just hanging out, talking to whoever happens to be around. You get authentic expressions that may not come through in a posed photo. This photo was snapped while Gabe was talking to his fantastic mom and I have another one where he's giving a look to Lauren...they're some of my faves!
The best thing about photographing Gabe is that he'll give you two or three great shots in one particular pose, but you'd better be ready, because the money shot is most likely coming once he starts to get bored with the pose. That's how we got this one and I adore it.
And of course, we have to include traditional portraits that everyone will love forever.
This is a family that I always love to spend time around and Gabe's senior session was no exception. Thanks for allowing me to photograph Gabe's senior session, Long/Little family! That's 2/3 boys...you do realize this photographer is available for travel, right??? ;)
