Well, this is something new. I'm not usually on this side of the camera.
Why did I decide to do a quick photoshoot of myself this summer? Because how on earth can I expect my clients to feel comfortable in front of the camera when I rarely do it myself?
How can I know how you feel when that lens is staring at you? How can I know what poses feel natural and which ones feel forced? All of this I had to figure out on my own and the best way to do that was to jump in front of the camera.
Plus, it's probably good for you to see the "face" behind the business. So, Lauren and I planned out my outfit and headed to Edwardsville where I knew this building would provide exactly the look I wanted for my photo session.
Lauren was my photographer and she did a fantastic job. When we got home and I uploaded the photos, I expected to cringe. And I did. There are things about these images that I don't love. But there are also things that I do love. I love how the pink necklace and skirt pop against the otherwise fairly neutral background. I love the color combinations I chose. I even love my hat and that I'm wearing sunglasses in so many of these. If you know me, you'll know that my sunglasses are either on my face or on top of my head. I don't leave the house without them, even on a dark, rainy day.
I love how comfortable and casual I look in this photo. So while there are many things I love about these photos.......I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting my bangs trimmed first! I LOVE my long bangs, but apparently, the camera doesn't. Lesson learned for next time!
I love that these images will last for years and how they show how I looked at this exact moment in time. We're always changing, each day looking a bit different than we did the day before. It's important to capture us whenever we can...our future family members will thank us!
When was the last time you had a professional portrait taken of yourself?
