Next up on the blog is Carlinville High School senior, Tyler’s session! Tyler and his mom were super chill on location ideas for his session. The only thing they requested were a few photos on the golf course, which I was happy to do because our local country club is one of my favorite places for sessions. (It may also be one of my favorite places to spend my spare time, too!) So, I came up with some suggestions and they went along with them all, and I think the results turned out fabulously. This is most definitely one of my favorite guy sessions ever, and based on the incredible amount of compliments I got on these photos, it seems to be one of your favorites as well!
We started out at Carlinville High School. I thought this was a spot we had to stop seeing how Tyler is actively involved in student life here. I mean, he’s the senior class president. This is basically his White House. So he suited up and we got some fantastic portraits at one of Carlinville’s best looking buildings.
See what I mean? It’s a good looking building. And Tyler’s wardrobe choice (which his mom tells me was entirely his decision) went along perfectly.
We left the high school and started making our way towards the country club, with some stops in between. I like to plan out my sessions not only in terms of what locations we’ll visit, but where they are. I don’t like driving all over the place and doubling back when it’s unnecessary so if we can be efficient in the order we visit locations, I’m a happy photographer.
While we were here, I got to chat with Tyler about his plans following high school. We discussed college visits he’d taken over the summer and we were extremely impressed. This guy has big things in his future! He’s got his eyes set on Ivy League schools and I have no doubt they’d all be lucky to have him.
Next stop, the golf course! Tyler is a member of the CHS golf team. I was fortunate enough this year to photograph the match on Senior Night this year and I was pleased to see all of the talent we have on our golf team! The golf course during golden hour is one of the best places to be, in my opinion and this night was no exception. The sunset was spectacular that night!
In fact, Tyler described this photo, one of his favorites, as the one where it looks like there’s a nuclear explosion happening behind him.
He’s not really wrong.
It was such a pleasure working with Tyler and his mom and I couldn’t be more pleased with how the photos turned out. Tyler is a pretty quiet guy but he knocked this session right out of the park!
